Therapy is a schedule, not an appointment

A knee replacement, a stroke, a fall, or a shoulder repair usually comes with weeks of therapy, and the appointments land while you are least able to drive. The families who call us are not looking for one ride. They need the whole course covered, on time, by someone who knows how to help a person who is sore, slow, or on a walker.

So we run therapy rides the way we run dialysis routes: one call sets up a standing order, the pickups repeat on the clinic’s schedule, and the same dispatch team answers when anything changes. If the course starts with a hospital or rehab discharge, we handle that ride too.

What therapy rides include

  • Standing schedules for two or three sessions a week, set up in one call
  • A driver who helps from your front door to the clinic check-in desk
  • Walkers, crutches, knee scooters, and wheelchairs ride along, no extra charge
  • Lift-equipped vans when you need to stay in your own wheelchair
  • The driver waits for short sessions or comes back at a set time for longer ones
  • One predictable quoted rate for a recurring schedule, tolls included
Why this lane is different

What dependable therapy transport actually means

Therapy only works if you show up

A course of physical therapy is six, eight, or twelve weeks of appointments, often two or three a week. Progress depends on keeping every one of them, and a ride that falls through costs more than an afternoon.

After surgery, the car is the hard part

A new knee or hip, a healing incision, or a no-driving order makes the trip to the clinic the hardest part of the day. Our driver handles the door, the steps, and the walker, and stays close on the way in.

Sessions run on the clock

Clinics book therapy in tight blocks. We plan the pickup around the appointment time, not the other way around, and we are waiting when the session ends instead of making you call for a ride.

Family gets their workdays back

Most therapy rides fall on a spouse or an adult child who takes time off three mornings a week. Handing us the schedule means they can be there for the milestones instead of the parking lot.

How it works

One call, then it runs itself

1

Tell us the clinic and the schedule

Your therapy clinic or rehab center, the days and times, and how you get around right now: walking, with a walker, or in a wheelchair.

2

We set the standing order

The whole course goes in once, with one predictable rate. When the clinic changes a time or adds a session, one call to dispatch updates the schedule.

3

The rides take care of themselves

The same dependable pickup before each session and a driver waiting after. If you graduate early or need to pause, just let us know.

“Essential Transport Assistance has become my go-to for medical transport. I've used them for everything from post-surgery trips, physical therapy and to regular check-ups, including wheelchair and stretcher service, and they never disappoint. They are incredibly reliable, safety-conscious, and efficient. You can tell they have a high standard for how they treat their passengers; the staff is always professional and attentive. If you need reliable, quality transportation, I highly recommend giving them a call.”

Common questions

Can the driver wait during my therapy session?

Yes. The first 15 minutes of waiting are free. For a longer session, we either keep the driver with you for a wait-time charge or schedule a return pickup for when the session ends, and you hear the price of each option before you decide.

Can you take me to therapy two or three times a week?

Yes. Recurring therapy schedules are a standing order with us: the whole course is set up in one call, and we adjust it whenever the clinic changes your time. Many riders start right after a hospital or rehab discharge and keep the same driver through the end of the course.

I just had surgery and cannot drive. Can you take me to follow-ups?

Yes. Post-surgery appointments are one of the most common rides we run. Our driver helps you from the door to the vehicle, carries the walker or crutches, and sees you all the way to the check-in desk. If sitting is painful or you cannot bear weight yet, we can send a lift-equipped wheelchair van instead.

Do you handle wheelchairs, walkers, and knee scooters?

Yes. Walkers, crutches, and knee scooters ride along at no extra charge. If you use a wheelchair, you ride in your own chair in a lift-equipped van, secured for the trip, and the driver brings you through the clinic door.

What does therapy transportation cost?

Local one-way rides start at $90 for ambulatory passengers and $110 for wheelchair passengers, priced by distance with tolls included. You hear the full price before you book, and a recurring schedule is quoted as one predictable rate for the whole course.

Which therapy clinics and rehab centers do you drive to?

Outpatient physical and occupational therapy clinics, hospital-based rehab departments, and inpatient rehab centers across Broward and south Palm Beach counties, as well as Miami-Dade. If your clinic is in the tri-county area, we cover it.

Can a family member ride along?

Yes. One family member or caregiver rides along at no extra charge, which many riders prefer for the first few sessions after surgery.
