Questions? We’ve got answers

Everything you need to know about booking and riding with Essential Transport Assistance. Still unsure? Our dispatch team is happy to help.

What is non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT)?

NEMT is scheduled, non-ambulance transportation for people who need help getting to and from medical appointments and other destinations. It’s for trips that aren’t emergencies but still require safe, assisted transport — like dialysis, discharges, and specialist visits.

How do I book a ride?

The fastest way is to call our dispatch team at 954.477.7340. You can also request a ride through our online form and we’ll call you back to confirm the details, pickup window, and any special assistance needed.

How far in advance should I schedule?

We recommend booking as early as possible — especially for recurring trips like dialysis. We do our best to accommodate same-day and short-notice requests when availability allows, so it never hurts to call.

What types of transport do you offer?

We provide wheelchair van transport, stretcher transport, and ambulatory (chauffeur) service for passengers who can walk with little or no assistance. We’ll help you choose the right option for the passenger’s needs.

Do you offer door-through-door assistance?

Yes. Our team assists passengers from inside the home or facility to the vehicle and all the way to the destination — not just curb-to-curb. Let us know what level of help is needed when you book.

Which areas do you serve?

We serve the South Florida tri-county region: Broward, Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach counties. We also arrange scheduled long-distance trips on request.

Can family members ride along?

In most cases a family member or caregiver can accompany the passenger. Please mention it when scheduling so we can plan for the additional seat.

How does payment work?

We accept private-pay arrangements and work with facilities on account billing. Coverage varies by plan, so call us with your situation and we’ll walk you through your options before your trip.

Do you handle recurring or standing-order trips?

Absolutely. Recurring trips such as dialysis and ongoing treatment are a core part of what we do. We can set up a standing order so you don’t have to rebook every time.

Still have questions?

Call our dispatch team and we’ll walk you through everything — no obligation.
